Book shut-off valve replacement

Step 1 of 2

We replace seized, leaking, and original-brass valves with modern quarter-turn ball valves. That covers under-sink stops, behind-toilet stops, washing-machine valve boxes, frost-free hose bibs, and main-building shut-offs. We pressure-test every replacement before we leave. For main-building work, we coordinate the water-off window with you so the disruption is short. We often pair this work with a faucet or toilet install since the water is already off.

Most fixture shut-off swaps are 30 to 60 minutes per valve on site. A standard residential under-sink or behind-toilet valve replacement runs $150–$250 per valve including labour, valve, and new supply line. Main building shut-offs and frost-free hose bibs run higher and are quoted before the visit.

Scope

What's included

  • 01 Quarter-turn ball-valve replacement on fixture stops
  • 02 Main building shut-off replacement (notice required to schedule water-off)

  • 04 Outdoor hose bib (frost-free model recommended)
  • 05 Pressure-test of every replaced valve
  • 06 Supply line replacement when paired with the valve swap

Process

How a project goes

  1. 01

    Locate

Identify the valves that need swapping, most homes have at least one seized or weeping shut-off, and replacing them before they fail saves you a flood.

  2. 02

    Schedule water-off

For main-building work we coordinate timing with you so water is off for as little of the day as possible.

  3. 03

    Drain

Water off, lines drained at the lowest fixture so the work area stays dry.

  4. 04

    Replace

Old multi-turn or compression valve cut out. New quarter-turn ball valve sweat-soldered or press-fit in, depending on the line.

  5. 05

    Test

Water restored slowly, valve cycled through full open and closed, joint inspected for weeping over a full pressure cycle.

Licensed and insured

Licensed Ontario plumber, liability insurance, and WSIB coverage. License number on every invoice, both documents available on request.

Three-month warranty on every job

If the same issue comes back inside three months (same drain, same fixture, same valve), the return visit is included. In writing on every invoice.

Questions customers ask about shut-off valve replacement

  1. 01 How much does a service call cost?

A standard residential service call runs $250–$350, which covers the visit and a one- to two-hour repair. Larger work — camera-follow-up drain cleaning, multi-fixture installs, leak repair behind drywall — is quoted on site before any work starts, so the number you agree to is the number on the invoice.

  2. 02 Do you warranty the work?

Yes, three months on every job, residential and commercial. If the same issue comes back inside that window, the return visit is included at no charge. The policy is written on the invoice, applied without argument, and the same on a small repair as it is on a major project.

  3. 03 Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — licensed Ontario plumber, carrying liability insurance. Both documents are shown before the work starts on request, and the licence number is on every invoice. With we and a, licensing and insurance are baseline — not a feature to advertise, just the standard we work to on every residential, commercial, and emergency call.
